  • CAREER:                                 Laronde won the Miss World title as Miss Trinidad & Tobago in London, England, in 1986. In honour of her accomplishment, a BWIA airplane was named after her and stamps with her image were issued. After the 1986 Miss World pageant, she began competing in Shotokan Karate-Do while studying at the University of London. In 2009, Laronde placed fourth in the 10th Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation (SKIF) World Championship in Athens, Greece. In June 2011, she held the position of Senior Manager of Corporate Communications at Angostura Limited, and was a member of two independent boards. In November 2012, she won a bronze medal at the 11th SKIF World Championship in Sydney, Australia. In October 2014, she won the gold medal in her Kata Category of female adults, 35 years and over, at the 20th annual New York Open Traditional Karate Do championships at the Westchester Community College, New York, USA.
