Netballers

Netball gained popularity in the 1950s largely through the efforts of Lystra Lewis. Trinidad & Tobago's greatest accomplishment in netball was achieved in 1979 when its national team shared the World Championship with Australia and New Zealand. As a result, the Trinidad & Tobago Netball Association was awarded a Trinidad & Tobago Humming Medal Gold. The 1979 team was made up of the following players, all of whom were awarded the Trinidad & Tobago Chaconia Medal Gold in 1979:

  • Ingrid Blackman
  • Angela Burke-Brown
  • Peggy Castanada
  • Heather Charleau
  • Cyrenia Charles
  • Marcia Dimsoy
  • Jennifer Nurse
  • Sherril Peters
  • Eugenia Theodosia Pierre
  • Veryl Prescod
  • Althea Thomas-Luces
  • Jennifer Williams
