EDMOND  GERALD  HART

DATE OF BIRTH: 1923
PLACE OF BIRTH: San Fernando, Trinidad
EDUCATION: ...
CAREER:                                 Hart began playing mas with Harold Saldenah's band in the early-1950s, after his family relocated from San Fernando to Port-of-Spain. He moved over to Bobby Ammon's band in 1955 where he took over the leadership prior to Carnival 1961 after Ammon's resignation. Thus, the Edmond Hart band was formed. After the 1961 Carnival, both Edmond Hart and his wife Lil Hart shared the leadership of the band until 1991 when the Harts separated and their matrimonial and mas partnerships ended. Lil Hart passed away a few months later from a heart attack and, in 1992, Edmond Hart produced his final band. However, his legacy lived on when two of his children, Thais and Gerald, formed the Young Harts band, which later became Harts Limited. During his 30 years of leading a mas band, Hart won the Band-of-the-Year title five times (1966, 1970, 1983, 1986, and 1988), with Kay Christopher as the perennial Queen of his band. In 2003, the band's headquaters continued to be located at 5 Alcazar Street, St. Clair, Port-of-Spain. The following is a listing of Hart's Carnival presentations:
